SPACs are a hot commodity right now… and the first official “momentum masters” of 2021. Everyone and their Davey Day Trading brother is discussing & debating these anti-IPOs.
For those of you who’ve been sleeping… SPAC stands for Special Purpose Acquisition Companies. They help take companies public. What’s the difference? Think of it this way: IPOs are a company looking for money, whereas SPACs are money looking for a company.
Did you hear the one about the tech CEO who tried to crack a joke on a Zoom meeting?
It wasn’t even remotely funny.
(insert laugh track)
Improv comedy in the workplace isn’t new. We all grew up hearing that “yes and” would be the most valuable tool in the workplace… that was when we had in-person meetings. A year into working remotely and we’ve learned we need a different set of skills for Zoom. It is not as simple as turning on your camera, adjusting your microphone, and putting on a virtual background (as if that is easy…). We’re…
It’s been a tough start to the year… excitement for increased vaccine distribution is tempered by the stress of an ever-present pandemic. Valentine’s Day is coming up and while most couples would be getting ready for it, brands promoting it, and restaurants / hotels booking up, we see that the momentum for Valentine’s Day is already down significantly compared to last year.
Decoding the momentum for Valentine’s Day in its current state would be a snooze.
So… we are getting into our momentum mindset and looking to the future of relationships from the perspective of people that have been most…
Humankind has always pushed the limits of what is possible with moonshots. The 2020 vaccine race was the Apollo 11 lunar landing of our time — a moonshot to propel our species forward and inspire us.
Now, just one year after the audacious Operation Warp Speed plan, we’re no longer asking when there will be a Covid-19 vaccine, but how we can get our appointment!
This achievement has opened our minds to what is possible — making us think big about the future. We’re rethinking not just what we humans can do, but HOW WE SHOULD DO IT.

The home-gym hybrid model is giving us clues as to how the WFH / work from office hybrid model will work in the future.
For months, the far corner of our bedrooms has been the new corner office and our bosses have seen that WFH works when it’s needed. Now, we’re all wondering if and how we’ll return to office life. Will a hybrid way of working be the new way “to office?” The best clues are coming from hybrid fitness.
A new and improved version of the roaring 20s.
Covid-19 bred a renewed sense of resilience and entrepreneurialism. As the business community looks forward to a more predictable and stable political environment, it is time to get ready for the momentum decade.
Risk-taking transformed from a luxury to a survival tactic. Now the rewards of reimagining and reinventing are recognized and businesses can’t get enough. Optimism is driving momentum towards post-pandemic recovery. Voracity for reassessing, experimenting, and taking chances has only just begun.

Our clear “net-net” from the 2020 Momentum Masters is the importance of evolving and adapting in times of disruption and adversity. 2020 was a time of change — all the norms, rules and behaviors were flipped on their heads overnight. The 2020 Momentum Masters were able to seize the moment and evolve. They maintained momentum and will now lead us into the future.
In its inaugural year, we used our MFactor to measure the cultural momentum of brands, people, movements and trends as they adapted to the new normal. We distilled everything we analyzed in 2020 into…

Momentum for together-ness has never been higher than it is in 2020 because pre-covid, “togetherness” has always meant different things to different people. Now, “togetherness” has taken on a united meaning.
The MFactor for “togetherness” increased from 63 this time last year to 83 this month. In March when the global pandemic broke, “together” took on a singular meaning: a global fight against the pandemic. Now that we see a light at the end of the tunnel, momentum for “together” means getting together IRL (in real life).
As 2020 comes to a close, we realize that all…
After the year we’ve had, who doesn’t want to get away? Put in for vacation time and stick some pins in your travel map… by Summer 2021, we will all be tripping.
2020 may have grounded our travel plans, but not our desire to get away. If anything, many of us could use a vacation now more than ever. What’s gotten complicated is where we can and can’t go, and how we get there.
COVID didn’t ban travel completely, it just forced those that wanted or needed to travel to do it differently. In fact, there’s a subset of jetsetters…
